Senator Damon Thayer Again Recognized As 'Friend Of Kentucky Cities'
FRANKFORT, KY (June 29, 2023) — Senate Majority Floor Leader Damon Thayer, R-Georgetown, is the recipient of another Kentucky League of Cities (KLC) Friend of Kentucky Cities award. He is among 20 lawmakers recognized with the award and is now a 14-time recipient.
KLC annually recognizes legislators who advocate for issues and secure the passage of legislation important to cities. Thayer was instrumental in passing 13 of the organization's initiatives.
"Receiving the Friend of Cities award is a great honor, and I am grateful for KLC's support of some quality legislation during the 2023 Legislative Session," Thayer said. “I look forward to continuing this partnership in the 2024 Legislative Session and beyond as we seek ways to better Kentucky residents' lives."
As Senate majority floor leader, Thayer plays a prominent role in carrying bills through the legislative process. Thayer and fellow lawmakers enacted 176 bills in the 2023 Legislative Session, 68 percent of which were supported by KLC.
