Senator Damon Thayer Provides An Update On New Circle Road Improvement Project
Progress Made On New Circle Road From Leestown To Georgetown
FRANKFORT, KY (June 29, 2023) — Senate Majority Floor Leader Damon Thayer, R-Georgetown, provides the following update on New Circle Road improvements in Fayette County from Leestown Road to Georgetown (mile point 7.260 to 8.260):
The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet continues to work toward construction to improve Leestown Road and New Circle Road. The cabinet is currently acquiring remaining right-of-way parcels, coordinating with the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government's sanitary sewer system and Kentucky Utilities on the relocation of utility lines and finalizing the design plans for the project. The cabinet's goal is to begin the process of letting the contract for construction by this fall.
"Following a meeting with Sen. Reggie Thomas, I requested an update from KYTC on the progress of improvements to New Circle Road, because of its importance not only to residents of Fayette County but also the surrounding region, including the other counties in the 17th Senate District," Thayer said. "I am pleased with the progress and look forward to the project's completion."
