THAYER RECEIVES PERFECT RATING FOR HIS SUPPORT OF SMALL BUSINESSES
FRANKFORT, Ky. (May 23, 2022) - The state office of the National Federation of Independent Business recently recognized Senator Damon Thayer (R-Georgetown) for his voting record in the 2021-22 session of the General Assembly, awarding him a 100 percent rating.
As Senate Majority Floor Leader, Thayer played a prominent role in the passage of legislation reforming the state's tax code and unemployment insurance system, making Kentucky more business-friendly and strengthening the workforce small businesses are dependent on. He has also been a proponent of freeing Kentucky businesses of burdensome red tape and restrictions and providing liability protection amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
"It's important to have elected leaders who understand the challenges facing Kentucky's small businesses and will do everything they can to enable small businesses to grow and create jobs," NFIB State Director Tom Underwood said.
"I'm a proud proponent of Kentucky's local mom and pop shops and thousands of small businesses that contribute to making the commonwealth the best place to call home," Thayer said. "When you consider that nearly half of all workers are employed by small businesses, it's a no-brainer that local, state and federal governments must support policies to benefit small businesses."
"As Majority Floor Leader in the Senate, Kentucky small businesses can rest assured I will always look out for them, whether it's cutting burdensome red tape making it difficult for them to operate or modernizing the state tax code to reduce their tax burden. I'm proud to have received a 100 percent rating from NFIB."
Underwood said the NFIB Voting Record does not reflect every element a lawmaker considers when voting, nor does it represent a complete profile of a legislator. The 2021-22 voting record includes eight key votes in both chambers on critical issues such as tax relief, unemployment reform, and COVID-19 recovery.
