Week 7 of the 2021 Regular Session

Another week of the 2021 Regular Session is in the books. With only six legislative days left, robust discussion on critical issues is as prominent as ever. While crafting the state budget remains at the forefront of everyone’s minds, we are staying the course to uphold our other legislative obligations as members of the General Assembly by passing bills that include specific reforms and amendments to keep the Commonwealth moving forward.

Week 6 of the 2021 Regular Session

Severe winter weather forced the Kentucky General Assembly to pause Regular Session activity during the week of February 15. My colleagues and I returned to Frankfort on Monday to resume legislative work on your behalf.

Legislative Update - February 17, 2021

Through icy road conditions and frigid temperatures, the Kentucky General Assembly completed another 3-days of legislative business in Frankfort. I hope you have remained safe during the winter weather that’s rolled into the bluegrass recently. Join me in taking a moment to thank the fantastic folks who have braved it to keep our lights on and our roads clear.

Week 3 of the 2021 Regular Session

The Kentucky General Assembly reconvened in Frankfort this week for the second portion of the 2021 Regular Session, having now completed 11 out of the required 30 days. Legislative business at the Capitol resumed full speed ahead, as both the House and Senate spent the week meeting in committees, voting bills out of the chamber, and overriding vetoes recently cast by the governor.

Senator Damon Thayer Recognized with Award for Conservative Excellence

The American Conservative Union Foundation (ACUF) recently released its annual legislative ratings for members of the Kentucky General Assembly. With a score of 91%, Senate Majority Floor Leader Damon Thayer (R-Georgetown) has been recognized with the 2020 Award for Conservative Achievement, making him one of only five Kentucky State Senators to receive this accolade.

Senator Damon Thayer Announces Committee Memberships for the 2021 General Assembly

The Senate Majority Caucus has announced the committee assignments for the 2021 Regular Session of the Kentucky General Assembly. Senate Majority Floor Leader Damon Thayer (R-Georgetown) will continue to serve as a member of the Senate Rules Committee, the Legislative Research Commission, and the Senate Committee on Committees. Additionally, he will serve as a member of the Senate Standing Committees on Licensing & Occupations; Agriculture; and State & Local Government.
